Bobcats win homecoming, Bucks down Beavers

The Houghton Lake High School varsity football team won its 2012 homecoming game, 16-14, over Farwell tonight (Oct. 12). The victory was the Bobcats first of the season.

During halftime the 2012 HLHS Homecoming King and Queen were announced. This year's royality are Queen Leah Pappas and King David Duncan.

Roscommon's football team defeated Beaverton 32-7 bringing the teams win total to five games, one away from automatically qualfying for the playoffs. The loss gave Beaverton its fourth loss of the season all but eliminating the Beavers from the playoff picture.

In other JPC action, both Clare and Gladwin punched their playoff tickets. Clare downed Meridian 27-7 and Gladwin defeated Harrison 27-20.

One more JPC team, either Roscommon or Meridian, will earn an automatic bid into the playoffs. The two teams play each other next Friday (Oct. 19) in Roscommon.
