Polar Bear Dip, Poker Run among second TUT weekend attractions
The fun starts tomorrow (Friday) with a tailgate party in the beverage tent, featuring the band, Revolver.
Plenty of activities are slated for Saturday, including the Polar Bear Dip at 1 p.m. Watch 2014 Queen Lindy Peterson – who said she plans to jump in a mermaid costume – jump first. She has been collecting money for Special Olympics of Michigan and plans to present a donation to the Wertz Warriors.
Also planned for the second Saturday of Tip-up Town is the Poker Run, hosted by the Houghton Lake Trailblazers Snowmobile Club. Participants receive cards at various sites, which are also accessible by car. The event begins at 11 a.m.
While adults and families have been looking for the Tip-up Town medallion, kids have their own medallion to search for, right on the TUT site. They receive clues at the outdoor games stage. Last week’s winner was Noah McGinley, 10, of Bellevue.
Saturday night be sure to look for another fireworks display, shot from the ice on Houghton Lake. The show starts at 6:30 p.m.
Inside the Family Fun Tent can be found entertainment by Diversity Entertainment, magic shows by Michael Pearce and appearances by Twister Joe and the Association to Rescue Kritters’ Birds of Prey.
Kids’ games, an ice slide and carnival rides can be found at the center of Tip-up Town. The Houghton Lake Lake Associationsponsored Ice Fishing Contest will award prizes Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
The beverage tent, located about a block east of Tip-up town, will be open Saturday, featuring Revolver.
Queen Lindy Peterson is also the chair of snow sculpture and ice carving contest. Prizes will be awarded in commercial and residential categories Sunday at 4 p.m. inside the Family Fun Tent. Call (989) 808-1242 to let her know about your cold creation!
