Gladwin smokes Bobcats, 8-0

This story contains a video The Houghton Lake Girls varsity soccer squad suffered an 8-0 loss to the host Gladwin Flying G’s on May 18. The G’s were led by Melanie Smalley who recorded five goals in the victory.

Egg Hunt Experiences

Buck wrestlers end season in top eight

This story contains a video The Roscommon varsity wrestling team ended their season as one of the top eight teams in Division 3 Friday, when they were defeated by eventual state champion Richmond (63-11) during the quarterfinal round of the State Team Wrestling Tournament at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek.

CUB SCOUTS MARK 100 YEARS

This story contains a video   Current and former Cub Scouts, volunteers, leaders and families gathered Feb. 28 at Artesia Youth Park to mark the 100th year of scouting. Cub Scouts of Pack 3981 put on a show to honor the history of Scouting, and more than 20 scouting veterans and volunteers were honored. The audience was also treated to a magic show by Jacob Betts.

Fishermen bail as Higgins Lake swallows truck

This story contains a video “It was a feeling I never want to feel again, it was like a scary movie.” That is how Paul Schepers, 50, of Evart described how he felt when his truck was stopped dead in its tracks as the ice on Higgins Lake gave way under it Friday morning. Two minutes later, his vehicle, a 1998 Dodge 1500 pickup, was lying on its roof in 38 feet of water.
